Public Land Re-Opens For Hunting
24th May 2020
Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall has announced that from Friday 8 May 2020, NSW Restricted Game Hunting Licence (R-Licence) holders with a valid written permission issued by DPI will be allowed back into State forests.
Public land hunting was suspended on Monday 6 April 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) into rural and regional areas. Access to written permission bookings and hunting maps has been reinstated for R-Licence holders.
Current R-Licences will also be extended for four weeks to compensate hunters for the period State forest hunting was suspended.
Hunters are encouraged to download the federal government's COVID Safe app and reminded they must continue to observe other COVID-19 restrictions around travel and social distancing as well as advice provided by the Forestry Corporation of NSW around camping and facilities use.
